What does this number mean?

This table shows the highest-difficulty share each worker has ever submitted. It is a display statistic only: the chain keeps no record of near-misses, and mining is a memoryless process. A large record therefore does NOT mean the next block is close — it only reflects how much work has been done. Records get logarithmically rarer: beating the current one takes, on average, as much work again as everything done so far. Long stretches with no movement are entirely normal, and when a record does fall it usually multiplies rather than nudges upward.
